Sigh, I think I know my next idea for an LLM-assisted “make the pain legible” project: how well do provider orgs do at making release-of-information PDF forms? I’m kind of shocked to see this from Cleveland Clinic … It appears to be a bad photocopy image-only PDF. Not only does it lack fillable form fields; it doesn’t even have any text embedded in it (just images of text). I am for sure not trying to pick on Cleveland Clinic here --- I expect that if the problem shows up even at premier organizations like this, it is in fact quite widespread. And hence my desire to do a quick investigation about how prevalent and what the distribution of quality looks like.
